International German Gymnastics Festival in Frankfurt am Main from May 30 to June 5, 2009

Frankfurt am Main is hosting the Gymnastics Festival for the 5th time. Over 65,000 participants, visitors and inhabitants of Frankfurt and the Rhein-Main region are attending the world’s largest competitive and non-competitive sports-for-all festival. Besides apparatus gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline and wheel gymnastics, the festival also encompasses sports disciplines such as track-and-field, swimming, fencing, volleyball and many others. The daily gymnastic activities in which all are invited to take part and the cultural offerings on stages along the waterside of the River Main make Frankfurt a meeting place for those participating in the Gymnastics Festival, inhabitants of the city of Frankfurt and visitors.

NUSSLI constructed a 22 x 10 meters stage on a floating pontoon for the major event featuring a host of highlights. To give the VIP guests the best vantage point for the fire and water show during the opening ceremony, a tug moved the floating stage twice by 500 meters a time. In addition, NUSSLI erected 25 single grandstands throughout the city zone for another 10,000 festival attendees, an area totaling 1,500 square meters for gymnastic activities, more than 20 tower speaker systems distributed across the city, various other technical installations as well as a commentator and camera tower for the Hessian Broadcasting Station.
