9th Stadium in Liestal, UEFA EURO 2008TM
The "9th Stadium" was one of three official fan zones of the host city of Basle during the UEFA EURO 2008™, providing veritable stadium atmosphere in an authentic replica of a sports arena. Not only did it offer seating for 6,500 spectators, but it also included an extensive hospitality zone as well as various sports facilities and playgrounds around the stadium proper.Spectators were invited to watch the match action on two giant screens each measuring 8 x 6 meters.
On top of this, an outdoor stage, another stage for LED screens, eight sky boxes with 30 seats each and a posh VIP level in the fully covered stadium provided plenty of scope for various entertainment, sports and cultural events.
400 tons of material and a 6-week construction period were required to build the largest public viewing arena Switzerland has ever seen.
