A1 Beach Volleyball Grand Slam Klagenfurt 2009

The A1 Beach Volleyball Grand Slam was held for the 13th time in Klagenfurt on Lake Woerth from July 28 to August 2, 2009. The international volleyball elite met once again in 2009 to compete before an audience of almost 7,000 fans. The winner could take home a total amount of $ 600,000 in prize money.

NUSSLI was also commissioned in 2009 with the construction of the event infrastructures. In only three weeks, they built the lake and VIP terraces, the VIP and main grandstands, press platforms and video constructions, as well as various special platforms. The 1,400 tons of steel were installed by the assembly operators in a very short period of time. The lake and VIP terraces comprised 3,000 square meters and accommodated 1,600 VIP seats. The main grandstand even had enough space to accommodate 5,000 guests. In addition to the constructions on the sandy shore areas, another 200-square-meter platform area was built to extend into Lake Woerth.

The special thing about the construction of the main grandstand was its U-shape. It gave the facility a stadium character and therefore catered in giving it a very special atmosphere. Two 17-meter-high and ten-meter-wide gigantic screens provided each and every fan with a great view. The entire construction was removed by the team of 17 in only two weeks after the tournament was over.
