January 2010

European Handball Championships 2010, Graz

In January, the best handball players in the world were guests in Austria at the Men's European Handball Championships, held from January 19 - 31, 2010. It was the biggest handball event to ever take place in Austria. The preliminary round games were held from January 19 - 23, 2010 in the cities Linz, Innsbruck, Wiener Neustadt and Graz. The final games were held in Vienna from January 24 - 31.

On the occasion of these events, the Austrian Handball Association contracted NUSSLI to build the grandstand facility into the Graz Municipal Hall. An assembly crew of 20 was busy with the installation from January 13 - 16, 2010. A grandstand facility with a total of 21 rows and room for about 5,000 fans was installed, encircling the handball field. 28 entrance portals were integrated into the grandstand facility, through which the fans could access the grandstand. Additional constructions included press platforms, three camera towers, and a platform for the television studio.

The material had a total weight of 200 tons and filled 13.5 trailer-trucks, which were then transported from Roth, Huettwilen, and Wels to Graz. Sophisticated logistics were necessary to guarantee on-schedule delivery to the client.

Following the successful event, removal began on January 24th. The last parts were loaded on to the trucks no later than the 26th of January.
