Extension of the Los Cármenes stadium, Granada

NUSSLI was commissioned by GEGSA (Granada Eventos Globales S.A.) to expand the stadium of Spanish football club Granada CF in order to increase its capacity for first division matches to take place in the 2011-2012 season.

In just 16 days, a NUSSLI assembly team of 14 people constructed 6 temporary grandstands with a total of 3,088 new seats. These grandstands had to be assembled within the empty areas of the existing stands, which, together with the need to achieve the maximum number of new seats possible, meant that this was a significant challenge for NUSSLI. The assembly had to be done on several levels and additional calculations were required in order to assess the maximum load that could be supported by the existing concrete structure. In addition, the project required the use of non-standardised materials. During construction, a total of 260 tons of material, transported in 13 lorries from various NUSSLI headquarters in Spain and from NUSSLI Switzerland, were used.
