Grand opening of the VW plant in Chattanooga

Volkswagen celebrated the opening of its new plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee (USA) in May 2011 in style, and with 600 invited guests. NUSSLI was responsible for constructing 2,300 m² of infrastructure for this grand opening, based on ideas provided by Feld + Team, a planning & event agency.

During the construction phase, which took ten days, NUSSLI’s assembly team worked hand in hand with the American trade fair construction company EWI and 25 local service engineers, to construct a 1,500 m² large stock hall and a number of tents with a total surface area of 800 m². The material for the infrastructure was imported from Europe and filled 12 articulated lorries. A special technical solution was needed for a manually operable and liftable gate in the stage area. Another special feature was a 50 m long wall, which could be divided into two halves and the whole of which could slide upwards.
