The existing grandstands at the Khalifa Tennis Stadium in Doha had to be extended for compliance with WTA Championship requirements. The Olympic Committee of Qatar therefore entrusted NUSSLI with the project study, the planning and with the expansion of grandstand capacity to accommodate a further 3,500 spectators.
The planning took three weeks and then the building work was carried out in four. A crew of 120 assemblymen installed the additional 3,500 seats including 11,000 square meters cladding, twelve commentator boxes with air conditioning and electronic systems, plus 16 tennis surfaces, in conditions of extreme heat, sometimes as high as 50 degrees Celsius.

The grandstands on three sides, built on the rear wall of the existing stadium and projecting to a height of 30 meters, were an additional challenge.
