Venice Pavilion – Expo 2010 Shanghai

The EXPO 2010 in Shanghai outshined all of the previously initiated World Expos: Approximately 70 million visitors came to experience over 240 exhibitors on a total area of 5 million square meters from May 1 - October 31. As a nation with a population that exceeds 1.5 billion, China knows from experience the problems posed by urban cohabitation better than any other country. With exactly this fundamental future issue against the backdrop of growing mega cities in mind, the World Expo approaches the theme under the title "Better City, Better Life".

Under the theme "Protection and Utilization of Historical Heritages: Urban Best Practices in Venice“, the Venice city showcased the famous water city's practices in protecting historical heritages and balancing urban life and environment. NUSSLI was entrusted with the construction of the Venice city exhibition by the Venice Municipality Office. The pavilion built with metal beams, glass and wood had a 500 square meter ground with a 80 square meter first floor with the total dimension of 27x19 meter and 7 meter high. The installation was made with plaster panel painted and possessed 20 plasma televisions, 36 illuminated show cases. But that was not all: Venice would not be Venice without its numerous channels. Therefore a water channel with a 45 meters flow through the exhibition which gave the presentation of Venice a very special attraction.
