Venice's Candidacy for the Olympic Summer Games 2020
NUSSLI developed a master plan for the city of Venice's bid as host city for the XXXII Olympic Summer Games. Stiff competitor in this selection process is, among others, the capital city of Rome, who is also interested in being chosen to host the representative venue for the Summer Games 2020.
The Venetian project provides an area of 220 hectares with a view of the lagoon and the famous historic center as a venue for competitions in the majority of the sports disciplines. NUSSLI developed project planning for the proposed temporary and permanent infrastructures on this extensive green area, including feasibility study and cost estimate supported by three-dimensional renderings. Based on a comprehensive environmental analysis, a complete project was developed that provides for permanent structures to be combined with temporary infrastructures employing environmentally friendly construction methods. The entire project was conceived of regarding its sustainable use even after the Olympic Summer Games.
