World Youth Day 2011, Madrid

Pope Benedict XVI visited Madrid for World Youth Day, which took place between 16th and 21st August. The event, which lasted six days, attracted approximately 2,000,000 young people from all around the world. Throughout the event, tens of activities were organised including Mass, concerts and religious and social gatherings.

NUSSLI was responsible for assembling all of the infrastructures required by the media (TV and graphic and written press). Infrastructures were assembled at nine different headquarters located in the city of Madrid and one of the districts within the Community of Madrid. Construction was completed within just 17 days by approximately 20 fitters and a total of 260 tons of materials, delivered in 30 lorries, were used. Among the 65 structures assembled, the main two were the television studios, one of which was constructed at the Cuatro Vientos airbase and the other in the Plaza de Cibeles. The main challenge of this interesting project was to coordinate the various fitters in record time and to guarantee the stability of all the structures. Despite these difficulties, NUSSLI was able to completely satisfy the client, participants and the media.
