Constructed of a hollow steel tube impact plate, buffered with energy absorbing foam blocks, the SAFER® barrier system has successfully minimized injuries in actual professional racing conditions. The SAFER® barrier system works by dissipating impact energy before it fully reaches the vehicle’s occupant. Peak forces applied to the vehicle are decreased by spreading the impact event over an extended distance along the wall, thus affording the occupant’s restraint system more time to function optimally.
